UV Protection:Helps protect the paint from UV damage, preventing oxidation and fading.
Ease of Cleaning:The hydrophobic properties make it much easier to wash the vehicle, as contaminants don’t stick to the surface as easily.
Our Unique Process
Here’s a breakdown of the steps involved in Ceramic Coatings:
1⃣ Initial Assessment and Preparation:Inspection: Our team begin by inspecting the vehicle's paint condition. This includes identifying any imperfections, such as swirl marks, scratches, or oxidation, that need to be addressed before applying the ceramic coating.
Wash the Car: The vehicle is thoroughly washed to remove dirt, grime, and any loose contaminants. This step is crucial as it ensures that the surface is clean and free from particles that could interfere with the coating.
Clay Bar Treatment: We use a clay bar to remove embedded contaminants such as tree sap, industrial fallout, and rail dust that cannot be removed by regular washing. The clay bar ensures that the surface is smooth and ready for the coating.
Dry the Car: After washing and claying, the vehicle is dried with microfiber towels or a blow dryer to ensure there is no water left on the surface that could affect the application of the coating.
2⃣ Paint Correction (Optional but Recommended):Polishing the Paint: If the vehicle’s paint has imperfections such as swirl marks, light scratches, or oxidation, our team will perform paint correction. This involves using a polishing machine and various polishing compounds to restore the paint to a smooth, glossy finish.
Refining the Surface: The paint correction process helps ensure the surface is as flawless as possible before the ceramic coating is applied. This step enhances the coating's effectiveness and ensures the best possible finish.
3⃣ Surface Preparation:Cleaning the Surface: After polishing, the vehicle's surface is thoroughly cleaned again to remove any residue from the polishing compounds or oils. This step ensures that no contaminants are trapped under the coating.
Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) Wipe-Down: Some times we may use an IPA solution to wipe down the paint. The alcohol-based solution removes any lingering oils and residues, ensuring the surface is completely clean and ready for the ceramic coating to bond effectively.
Paint Protection
Applying the Coating: The ceramic coating is carefully applied in small sections. Our team will use a specialized applicator pad to spread the coating evenly across the paintwork. The coating is typically applied in a crosshatch pattern to ensure full coverage.
Wait and Buff: After the coating is applied to each section, we will allow it to cure for a short period (usually a few minutes, depending on the brand and type of ceramic coating). Once it begins to haze over, the excess coating is buffed off using a microfiber towel. This process ensures that the coating is level and smooth, preventing high spots or streaks.
5⃣ Curing and Drying Time:Curing Time: After the coating is applied and buffed off, the vehicle is left to cure for a certain period (usually a few hours). Some ceramic coatings may require a longer curing time before the vehicle can be exposed to water or other elements. The curing process allows the coating to chemically bond with the paint, providing a durable protective layer.
Avoid Water Exposure: During the curing phase, the car should be kept dry, and it’s often advised to avoid exposure to rain or washing for 24-48 hours, depending on the product used.
6⃣ Final Inspection and Touch-Up:Inspect the Coating: After the curing time has passed, our team will perform a final inspection to ensure the ceramic coating has been properly applied and bonded to the paint. Any missed spots or areas requiring touch-ups will be addressed at this point.
Protection of the Coating: Depending on the type of ceramic coating used, we may apply an additional layer for enhanced protection or may finish the job with a topcoat that further enhances the coating's hydrophobic properties and adds an extra layer of shine.
7⃣ Post-Care Instructions:Provide Care Instructions: We will give the car owner specific post-care instructions, which typically include avoiding washing the vehicle for a few days to allow the coating to fully bond. Our team may also recommend maintenance products like a hydrophobic spray to prolong the effectiveness of the coating.
